Pokémon Green was released in Japan with Red, but it seems a lot more people bought Red, they said the graphics of Green were really bad, and the Pokémon looked terrible, not like in Red. In the end Pokémon Blue was launched in Japan, the graphics were the same, and the same Pokémon could be caught as in Green. The Gameplay was the same as Red and Blue, you played the character Ash and went out into the world to become a Pokémon Master. You may find fake English Green Editions in some places, but Green was never launched outside Japan, and probably never will be.

Comparing Red/Blue/Yellow to Green
Red/Blue Yellow Green
The Red/Blue edition of Charmander. The Yellow edition Charmander. Looks like Charmander got punched on the nose in Green.
