Glitch City
WARNING!!!!!!!! This is VERY, VERY, VERY
important. This can destroy the whole game. Not just the saved memory, but the whole
game can be wiped clean, so use this at your own risk!!! Don't say you weren't
warned!
1.)Go into the Safari Zone and walk around until you have 100-300 steps left.
2.)Go out and when the man asks if you want to finish early, say yes and go back in.
3.)Wak into the first resting house, save the game, switch it off and on again.
4.)Try to leave again, but (and now things start to happen) instead of asking if you
want to stop early the man will ask you if you want to join the hunt.
5.)Say no and leave to the South.
6.)Fly to Cinnabar and Surf up and down on the East coast (like with Missingno).
7.)At some time the gomg of the Safari Zone will go off and you will find yourself back
in the entrance of the Safari Zone.
8.)Leave to the South again and you will be in Glitch City.
Note: You often get stuck in Glitch City, and sometimes the Gameboy
may reset itself. Use HMs to try to carry on, exept for Fly, as this take as you out of
Glitch City.
Never save the game in Glitch City, never. Use Fly to get away.
Duplicate Items
Do the Missingno trick, but before you do it, put the item you want to duplicate in sixth
position. After doing the trick that Item will have a strange symbol in front of it. You now
have that Item over a hundred times.
Note that you shouldn't duplicate HMs and items you cannot sell.
This cheat doesn't work on Yellow.
Catch Safari Pokémon elsewhere
1.) Go to the place in the the Safari Zone where the Pokémon is that you want.
2.) Walk around outside the grass untill your time runs out.
3.) Fly to Cinnabar Island.
4.) Surf along the Eat Coast until you run into the Pokémon you want.
Note: It may take a long time for the wanted
Pokémon to appear, especially rare ones like kangaskhan or Tauros.
You can fight these Pokémon normally, without throwing bait or rocks.
Catch Ditto easily
Put a Lv.5 Magikarp in first position and fight a Ditto. Let it transform to Magikarp and
then switch your Magikarp for a not to powerful Pokémon to weaken and catch
Ditto.
Another way to catch Ditto is to search the East coast of Cinnabar for 'M. When you
catch it it will still be there, catch it again and it will tell you that you caught a Ditto.
Identify Ghosts
Go to the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town without the Silph Scope. Get into
battle with a ghost. Go to Poké,mon and check one Pokémon's stats.
Return to battle with B. The ghost will now have changed into Gastly, Haunter or
Cubone. It is still called Ghost and cannot be caught or battled.
Stand on water
Go to Misty's Gym. Use Surf and get behind the trainer near Misty. Go on Surf to get
off. As the trainer is in the way you will stand on the water.
Surf and Fish in statues
Go to any Gym, stand in front of a statue and use any Rod. You are able to fish inside
the statue. Works with surfing, too.
Borrowed Bike
Go to Celadon City without a bike and go to the house that leads to the bikepath . As
soon as you enter the house hold down the left button. Keep it pressed even when the
guard is talking to you. After he has talked to you about three times you will walk
forwards instead of backwards and will go past. Once you are on the bikepath you
will be riding a bike, but you won't have one with you.
Water from nowhere
Go to Fushia City and go on the bikepath. Go to the bottom left and start cycling
upwards. Stick to the left until you are right at the top. Hit start and water will apear
where the round bushes were.
Intruder
In Pallet go to the girl who says I RAISE POKéMON.... Go to her right
and block her. Lead her to your house by blocking her. When she is in front of your
house go behind her. If she goes forward she will go onto your door. She
won't go into your house, instead she'll just stand on your door.
Kangaskhan (only Red and Blue)
Only take five Pokémon with you for this. Catch 'M and give it a random
nickname. Give 'M a Rare Candy and it will evolve to Kangaskhan. My 'M usually
evolves to Clefairy.
Rhydon with Surf and Water Gun (only Red and Blue)
Catch a 'M so that it gets sent to your PC. Run awy from the thing that is still there (this
is a Ditto). Leave 'M on the PC for a while, then go to the PC and check his stats. The
second picture in the stats should be of Rhydon. Withdraw 'M from the PC and teach
him Surf or/and Water Gun. Check the stats again. Take Rhydon to the name rater and
it will show you that his name really is Rhydon. He will be at Lv.1 (at least mine was),
use Rare Candy to raise his level.
Note: This worked for me, but I was playing a German Edition, so I
can't promise anything.
Bucket Pikachu (only Yellow)
This isn't really a cheat, just one of the stats Pikachu can get.
Make sure Pikachu likes you. Fish once with any Rod until you hook a
Pokémon. Fight or catch that Pokémon. Look at Pikachu and press A.
Pikachu will say "Fish" (He doesn't really say it, he just gets a speech bubble over
his head with a fish in it) and in the little screen that pops up next he takes a bucket off
his head.
I just thought this was cute and funny.
Ghost Pokémon
Send a critically injured Alakazam into battle and it will sound like a Ghastly.
Stand on item ball
To stand on an item ball you must go to a person in the game that drops one, and
stand in the place he drops it (for example: behind Giovanni when he drops the Silph
Scope).
You can stand on the Silph Scope and Lift Key (a Rocket member drops this on his
left).
Hiding Pikachu (only Yellow)
Do the "Stand on item Ball" trick behind Giovanni. When you beat him and Giovanni
disappears walk down one step onto the space Giovanni used to stand on and Pikachu
should disappear under it. All you can see now is his ears and his feet when he moves
around. As soon as you walk away from the ball Pikachu will follow you.
Find the hidden truck
When you get to Cerulean City, trade for a Pokémon with Cut. Don't get Cut
from the captain of the S.S. Anne. When you have got Surf, return to Cerulean City
and go down towads the S.S. Anne, but don't get on board. Instead Surf off to the left
until you see land, and on this little island you will find a truck. If you Surf all the way
to the right you will also see that the S.S. Anne can't really go anywhere (unless she
can swim through walls).
There are many rumours about the truck, like that you can find Mew under it if you
move it with Strength and things like that, but I am quite sure you can't. And anyway it
is totally impossible to move it with Strength.
Make Pikachu super happy very quickly (only Yellow)
If you want to have a super happy Pikachu very soon and quikly just keep giving him
Potions or things like that again and again, even if it says it has no effect. After a
while, when you look at Pikachu he will be at the highest stage of happiness. You can
do this as soon as you get Pikachu with the Potion off your PC.
Hidden PC
Go to the motel in Celadon City and stand looking at the spot where the PC would be
in the Pokémon Center. Press A and you will be using an invisible PC.
Dig through water
Sounds silly but you can actually use Dig when you are Surfing.
Bike musik without bike
While riding the bike on Seafoam jump through a hole in the ground. The bike will be
gone, but the bike musik wil remain.
Stand on tree
Cut down a bush and stand in its place. Save the game, switch it off and continue.
You will be standing on the tree. Just walk off it to get away.
Pikachu on tree (only on Yellow)
Cut down a bush and walk until Pikachu is standing where the bush was. Save the
game, switch the Gameboy off, continue the game and Pikachu will be standing on
the tree.
Pokémon over level 100 (only Red/Blue)
Do the Missingno trick, but don't talk to the old man. You should encounter
Pokémon. I find Golbat and Hypno, but you can also find Bulbasaur and
Mewtwo in rare cases.
Dancing Pikachu (only Yellow)
Jump down a ledge somewhere, but don't let Pikachu follow you. After a few seconds
Pikchu will start walking in place, turning around in circles and hopping about like
crazy.
Catch Mew (japanese version)
When you have all 150 Pokémon, go to Celadon Mansion and talk to the
programmer not using the PC and he should give you Mew.
In the American version the man will give you a diploma.
Pikachu can climb (only Yellow)
Do the "Stand on tree" trick in yellow. When you get off Pikachu will just walk over the
tree. Unfair, isn't it?
Avoid battles
Not much of a cheat, but quite useful if your running low on energy. Just stand in front
of a grassy area and use Cut to get rid of the grass. The grass will magically "grow"
again when you go into a building.
(This works in Gold and Silver, too.)
Quick experience
Not a cheat either and you probably know all about this already. Send a weak
Pokémon into battle and switch to a strong one straight away. When you win
the battle both Pokémon will get experience points. Another way to gain
experience is to fight with traded Pokémon, as they gain more experience than
normal ones.
More Money
This isn't a cheat either, just a tipp.
Use Pay Day to earn more money in battles (even when you battle wild
Pokémon). Another way is to battle the Elite Four again and again to earn a
lot of money.
Get all starter Pokémon
You need:
A friend with a Gameboy and a Pokémon Game
A link cable
1.)Player one restarts his game and chooses (for example) Squirtle.
2.)Player one playes until he can trade Pokémon, then swaps his/her Squirtle
to Player two for a common Pokémon like Pidgey.
3.)Player one restarts game and does the same for (let's say) Charmander.
4.)Now player one starts again with Bulbasaur and catches two common
Pokémon, then trades them for Charmander and Squirtle.
Note: If you want your Pokémon to have nicknames you must
name them as soon as you get them.
Wrong Pokémon and strange opponent
This cheat works for Red and Blue, I don't know about on Yellow.
Go to your PC and deposit all your Pokémon exept one defeated one (trust me,
this works). You can't walk very far, but far enough to reach the cable club and battle
a friend. Go to the colloseum. When you get into battle your Gameboy will tell you that
you lost, but on your friends Gameboy it will say you sent out some kind of
Pokémon. With me it was called Mew, but looked like a Charizard. Your friend
should now have "PLEASE WAIT" on his Gameboy while you are back in the
Colloseum. Get into battle and you will have a very strange opponent. He looks like
you, but has a strange name. The first time with me he was called something like
668888888 and the second time his name was just 6. All his Pokémon have
negative stats (I think they're all poisoned). He has Pokémon that look like
Missingno. They usually have infinite energy, but then they change from poisoned to
asleep, so they're hopelessely lost. I don't think you can defeat him, so just switch the
Gameboy off to get away.
If you save the game, turn it off, turn it on again you can take three steps every time
with the fainted Pokémon.
Stand in Girl
Outside the entrance to Mt. Moon there is a ledge you can jump off. There is a girl
walking about under it. Stand on the ledge and wait until the girl is directly under you,
then jump off the ledge. You will be standing inside the girl.
Restart Gameboy without turning it off
Press A+B+Start+Select.
